Mythological Value Of Narak Chaturdashi

On Karthik Month Chaturthi tithi, Krishna Paksha Celebrate Narak Chaturdashi, or Narak choudas or Karthik Chaturdashi Festival. It is also called Choti Diwali.

As Per the Mythological Texts, Lord Krishna Killed Tyrannical Narkasur Giant on that day & freed sixteen thousand girls from his custody.

Another story behind Karthik Chaturdashi as per Mythological Text Ranti Dev was about a Holy kind who never performed any kind of sin in their whole life.

But during the last stage of his life suddenly YAMDUT appeared in front of him. RANTIDEV was very much surprised to see him because Yamdoot’s presence means the doorway to hell. To this, Yamdoot replies that “Once upon a time a starving Brahmin returned hungry from your Door”.

Rantidev pleaded Yamdoot out of guilt and asked him for a year to correct his deed.

The king RANTIDEVA took his trouble & went to the sage for suggestions, after listening to the entire narration, the sage summed the measure of freedom from sin, “Hey divine King you observe the vow of Karthik Chaturdashi Month & serve a portion of food to Hungry Bramham ” The king did exactly what sage said & finally Divin king RANTIDEVA got a place in Vishnu Loka”

Astrological Value of Karthik Chaturdashi

Before sunrise on Narak Chaturdashi or Karthik Chaturdashi day ( Krishna Paksha, Chaturdashi tithi, Karthik Month), apply oil on the whole body followed by taking a bath in the water-filled with Aapamarga Leaves. It is believed that the whole process of taking a bath will liberate you from premature death and the atrocities of hell.
